Prime Minister Shehbaz ‘Satisfied’ with government of Sindh flood relief measures

ISLAMABAD:

federal government will provide a grant of 15 billion rupees to Sindh government overcome heavy losses of life and infrastructure in commemoration of mass destruction caused flash floods, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Friday.

Speaking to the media, the prime minister said that “Pakistan has witnessed one of the worst floods back in 2010. However, this flood even more destructive,” he said.

He went on to say that the Sindh government’s relief efforts were satisfactory and he congratulated Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. on taking the necessary steps to ensure safety of in flood victims.

Premiere also thanked Muttahid Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) for working tirelessly for in people.

Shehbaz further said that “the federal government allocated 28 billion rubles. for in flood victims. amount will be distributed within a week.

prime minister added what’s highlighted amount reach all the victims transparently. He also stated that the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will help with distribution of funds in which each family will receive total of 25,000 rupees.

Premier has arrived in Sukkur, Sindh, earlier today to review ongoing rescue work in in flood-affected area.

The prime minister was received by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari along with with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on his arrival.

Before landing, he took antenna view of devastation caused due to recent rains.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb announced what Shahbaz will visit various flood-affected regions of Sukkur in Sindh during his trip.

Marryum further stated that the representatives of Sukkur District Administration and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) will inform Prime Minister Shahbaz about current relief activities for flood sacrifice and recovery of damaged infrastructure.

Prime Minister informs diplomats on flood devastation

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz met with members of diplomatic community in Islamabad to warn them of the damage caused rain-induced floods that devastated various regions of country.

“as part of of efforts to mobilize all resources, I met Islamabad-based ambassadors, high commissioners and senior members of diplomatic corps today to draw their attention to the scale of human tragedy, prime minister announced through it official Twitter handle.

During the meeting, representatives of The Economic Affairs Division (EAD) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) have been informed of current status of in challenges faced in connection with floods and response to them.

Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed that “the ongoing period of rain caused devastation across the country.

“Losses that have yet to be documented are comparable to flash floods. of 2010,” he said.

He thanked international community for “their condolences, condolences and promises of support”.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, international organizations and financial institutions had announced immediate help of more over $500 million for in flood victims on Prime Minister’s message.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also met with international donors to inform them of the situation. Representatives of World Bank, Asian Development Bank, international financial institutions, development the meeting was attended by partners and donors.

Officials from China, the US and the EU, agencies of The UN and the World Health Organization have been also part of meeting.
