Heavy rain expected in Karachi with wind and thunderstorms tomorrow (July 24), according to latest weather bulletin issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

“The ubiquitous rain-wind /thunderstorms with scattered severe and very severe falls (extremely severe when times in lower and western Sindh), probably in Tharparker, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Tando M Khan, Tando Allayar, Hyderabad, Matyari, Sangar, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Kambar Shahdadkot, Gothki and Kashmore districts from today to July 27”.

The department warned that the rain could lead to flooding of cities and swamps. in low-lying areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Matyari, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Tharparker, Tando M Khan, Tando Allayar, Sangkhar, Nawabshah, Dadu, Jamshoro, Kambar Shahdadkot, Larkana and Sukkur during the forecast period.

He warned that strong winds could damage vulnerable and loose structures, adding that a constant strong spell could create pressure. on Hub Dam, leading flash floods in Districts of Dadu and Jamshoro and downstream.

In addition, the department informed all concerned authorities remain alert at this time.
