Police identify rioters in Punjab Assembly; arrests expected in 24 hours

LAHORE: Punjab Police Expected arrest legislators who were involved in the fight that broke out in Punjab Assembly on Saturday.

Over the weekend, the police demanded secretary of Punjab Assembly for CCTV footage of Incident on day of elections for Main minister of provinces. However secretary refused to provide videos.

After that senior police officers carried out round of negotiation with in secretary. But negotiations also ended up in fiasco.

The police then seized CCTV footage, as well as equipment identify the rioters. Based on on records, the police are expected to make arrests in in next 24 hours.

According to the findings, women legislators were also involved in attack on the police personnel on Saturday.

Others are identified from video obtained by police. show several PTI members of Punjab Assembly, including Fayyaz Chohan, Died Tanvir, Rana Shahbaz, Khayal Ahmad Castro, Mahinder Paul Singh, Wasik Qayyum Abbasi, Nawabzada Wasim, Abida Bibi, Momina Wahid, Zainab Umar, Shahida Ahmad and Asiya Amjad.

Video recordings also clearly show that the staff of the Punjab Assembly allowed the legislators of the PTI to enter many lots into the hall before session started.

Saturday like the Punjab Assembly met elect new main minister after Usman Buzdar resigned, lawmakers from the ruling PTI threw lots at Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, and some slapped him and pulled his hair.

When police entered the assembly halls to deal with the situation, many turned to the police and attacked them.

Separately, Mazar has also set up a nine-member commission to investigate the incident. But Punjab Assembly officials refused to accept the committee’s jurisdiction, calling it “unconstitutional”.
