'PlayStation VR 2 controllers have touch-sensitive sensors'

The PlayStation VR 2 controllers are said to have touch-sensitive sensors.
According to Upload VR and YouTube channel PSVR, among others Without Parole, Sony held a private presentation earlier this week to let developers know what to expect from the new virtual reality headset.

New information during that presentation would indicate that the previously revealed controllers for the PSVR 2 have touch-sensitive sensors for the thumb, index and middle fingers. These sensors could detect whether fingers are touching the controller and how far away the fingers are from the controller.

Other information from the presentation would confirm previous rumors. For example, a resolution of 4000 by 2040 pixels (2000 by 2040 pixels per eye) would be maintained and the device would have an OLED screen. It was also reported during the conference that the screen has a field of view of 110 degrees, 10 degrees more than the current PlayStation VR.

foveated rendering are present. As a result, the specific point that players look at with their eyes appears sharper than the surrounding area. This not only saves computing power, it also provides a more natural appearance. Furthermore, flexible scaling resolution would be available, which would further improve game performance.

Sony would encourage developers to develop AAA games for the device. The company would also like to see that many standard PlayStation 5 titles also receive PSVR 2 support. Gamers would then be able to choose between downloading the regular edition or the VR version when buying a game. It has not been confirmed whether current PSVR games are backward compatible with the PSVR 2.

The above information has not yet been publicly confirmed by Sony. More details about the device, including details about its launch, will be revealed in early 2022, according to PSVR Without Parole.
