Peugeot opens sales and production in Pakistan

French automaker Peugeot launches sales and production in Pakistan to become first European manufacturer in the country.

That region has long been seen too great terrorism risk for most Western automakers will see the Peugeot brand working in exclusive partnership with Lucky Motor Corp. in Karachi, the largest in Pakistan city. The partnership hopes to create a state-of-the-art assembly objects.

That first step of partnership will begin with introduction of locally built Peugeot 2008. Local production of Peugeot e-2008 BEV also is being considered.

Partnership started with opening of eight dealerships offering sales, after-sales and service, in six cities: Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Gujranwala.

Linda Jackson, CEO of peugeot, says: “It will be first European time car assembled in Pakistan and we are happy work with Lucky Motors in support employment, localization and local automotive industry in the country. “Internationalization is key focus for Peugeot with B- and C-segment SUV growth in Pakistan representing great possibility for us. This also fortified by evolution of legislation of country to electrification, which is completely in line with our strategy”.
