ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FO) strongly denied the unsubstantiated allegations made about Pakistan in International Religious Freedom Report (IRFR) issued by the United States.
In a week news briefing here in Islamabad on On Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said such ill-informed reports of internal affairs of sovereign states are meaningless, irresponsible and counterproductive.
She said Pakistan is proud of its religious diversity and pluralistic social textile. She said that Pakistan’s constitution establishes a strong framework protect and promote the rights and freedoms of all Pakistanis regardless of their faith. These rights and constitutional guarantees are protected, supported and strengthened by an independent judiciary.
The spokesman said that Pakistan firmly believes that each State itself has the primary responsibility for the promotion and protection of religious rights and freedoms. of its citizens.
With that understanding, she said, Pakistan has always engaged constructively with V international community in promoting mutual understanding on important question of religious freedom and minority rights.
In our interactions, including with United States, we have expressed serious concern about the steady growth in anti-Muslim hatred, racism and Islamophobia. She said we hope work with international partners in countering these pernicious forms of religious intolerance, discrimination and Islamophobia.
