Pakistani clerics fail to soften TTP’ in Kabul meetings

ISLAMABAD:

Delegation of Pakistani clerics who landed in Reportedly a day earlier Kabul failed convince the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to soften its stance and refrain from violence against state of Pakistan.

Delegation headed by Mufti Taqi Usmani flew to Kabul in S-130 aircraft on Monday to meet with TTP management.

The 13-person delegation included religious scholars from various sects from across the country, including Karachi, Lahore and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They are met head of the TTP Mufti Nur Wali and other leaders of in group from the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

The delegation was briefed on the status of Pakistan’s demands during the meeting with corps commander Peshawar at corps headquarters before flying to Kabul.

During the meeting, the clergy called on the leadership of the TTP to withdraw their demand for appeal of The veil merged, but they refused to budge.

The clergy cited several religious decrees of Vithakul Madaris against waging war against Islamic State of Pakistan.

In response, the TPP reiterated its demands put forward in various meetings with Pakistani negotiators and jirga of tribal elders from Pakistan.

Sources in TTP said Express Tribune what group could not trust the clergy in absence of specific assurances from military establishment which, in their opinion, possessed the actual power.

They are also said it was forbidden outfit put forward an “eight-point rationale” for their refusal to avoid violence against state of Pakistan, politely refusing to grant Mufti Taqi Usmani’s request.
