Pakistan, UAE agree to deepen strategic partnership, cooperation in diverse areas

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates agreed to intensify consultations and coordination aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership. with a view develop tangible and meaningful bilateral cooperation in key areas.

Bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. with the leadership of the UAE former paid official visit to the Emirates by invitation of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on January 12-13. It was prime minister’s third visit after taking office, said a joint statement released on Friday.

During the interaction, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation, in particular in field of information and communication technologies and work together for overcoming digital divide.

During the “warmest and most cordial” meeting, the leaders of the two countries held detailed discussions on concrete measures to strengthen bilateral relations, also opinion exchange on regional political and security issues.

They are also discussed a specific initiative to expand cooperation in political, defense, economic, commercial and cultural spheres, development of joint ventures and strengthening of cooperation in human resources sector.

FROM view to the development of real and meaningful bilateral cooperation in key areas, two countries agreed to intensify consultations and coordination in to strengthen their strategic partnership.

The parties signed Memorandums of Understanding in field of fight against human trafficking, information exchange, as well as between diplomatic academies of both countries.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif invited Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Pakistan at a later date and the invitation was accepted by the UAE leadership.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Minister of the United Arab Emirates for Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and discussed strengthening relations and ties between the two countries.

UAE investment discussion in Pakistan in various sectors also came up for discussion. Sheikh Nahyan informed prime minister about his government’s efforts to promote the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence around world.

He praised the dedication and hard work of Pakistani community which contributed greatly development of UAE.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif praised the historic ties between Pakistan and the UAE and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to further strengthen existing bilateral commitments with UAE in several fields including tradeinvestment, energy, culture and tourism.

Abu Dhabi Chamber urged to take advantage of “excellent” business opportunities

Earlier, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called on MPs of Abu Dhabi Chamber to visit Pakistan and experience “excellent” features of grows them business.

prime minister, in meeting with delegation of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, during its two-day visit to the UAE, stated that bilateral trade between Pakistan and the UAE has grown significantly in recent times.

The delegation was headed by the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrui.

In conversation with the delegation prime minister said that the Abu Dhabi Chamber, which also was of Pakistani participants played an important role in economic development of UAE.

He expressed his satisfaction that one of Pakistani businessmen were board member of Abu Dhabi Chamber, what was the indication of in fact Pakistani community was playing important role in in development of UAE.

Prime Minister Sharif said that vision and wisdom of his leadership has enabled the UAE to become an economic and tourist hub in a short span of time. of time.

He said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with UAE, which was founded on common faith, common history and people-to-people contacts.

“We consider the UAE an important strategic and economic partner for to be situated in Neighborhood, playing important role in ensuring peace, stability and economic development in in region and having the potential for joint socio-economic development”, prime minister noticed.

He emphasized need to increase cooperation between the chambers and urged the Pakistani chambers to reach out to the Abu Dhabi Chamber and develop new connections.

Prime Minister Shahbaz said that sending skilled labor to the UAE was one of top priorities of his government.

Members of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce has shown interest in does business and investment in Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Finance Ishak Dar, Minister for Commerce Minister Syed Navid Qamar for Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif for Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafik for Communications Maulana Asad Mehmood, Special Assistants to Prime Minister Aurangzeb, Tariq Fatemi and senior government officials.
