‘No Deal’: Azadi March ended to prevent bloodshed, says Imran – Pakistan

PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Friday dispelled rumors that he made a deal in exchange for ending partyAzadi March to Islamabad saying he did just that in order avoid bloodshed.

He stated this during a speech at a press conference. in Peshawar, adding that it will take to the streets again if not for early elections announced. He regretted how police officers attacked participants of march, accusing government for selection of officers to target PTI.

“Our workers asked why we didn’t have a sit-in. I am human who arranged a get-togetherin for 126 days. it wasn’t difficult for me, but by the time I got there I realized of degree of situation […] That day I knew there would be bloodshed.”

Imran said people were “ready” after seeing “terrorism” out through the police. “Everyone was ready to fight a little of our people were so outraged by what they saw,” he said, adding that officials had been ordered to brutalize the protesters.

“Anger at the time, if I arranged a sit-in this day i can guarantee that there would be bloodshed,” he said, adding that the feeling of hatred against police officials.

“But the police also ours, it’s not their fault,” the PTI chairman said, blaming government for issuance of directives. If there was violence, it would only have caused chaos in country, he said.

“Don’t think it was our weakness, and don’t think the deal was made. I hear strange things that the deal was made with institution. I didn’t make a deal with anyone”, he said, adding that the only motive behind his actions caused concern for country.

He also made it clear that PTI will not negotiate with or accept “imported government”.

“I think of How is that jihad. I will stand up against as long as I’m alive,” he said, repeating that he only cared about future of country.

Imran again emphasized on his six one day ultimatum government for in announcement of early election. “If they don’t announce a clear date for elections or for dissolution of meetings, I’ll take to the streets again. Let me make it clear this time we’ll be ready.”
