Storm at the end of the season left hundreds of thousands of people in Northeast without power Tuesday, with The Empire State has suffered the most.
in last 24 hours the storm has taken its toll over 11 New York counties, from the southern tier up to north country, according to Gov. Katie Hochul, who This was stated at a briefing at the Broome County Emergency Operations Center.
“I do want admit that it was a very serious event, as I said, as a result in dramatic amount of families, homesenterprises, schools, hospitals, at least temporarily displaced and engaged in with absence of power”, Hochul said.
As many as 350,000 homes were without power at some point during the storm, but now 200,000 power restored, according to Hochul. Officials hope brigades will restore everything power in in next three days, she said.
Storm warning remains in place from Long Island north along the New England coast. weather service says in time warning which in effect until 8 a.m. ET in some areas the sea can be up to 15 feet high.
“Strong winds will cause dangerous seas that can capsize or damage ships and reduce visibility”, i.e. weather service said.
While storms often hit coastal areas, the northeast is being traced much farther west this week, which means precipitation. in coastal cities arrived in the form of rain, while inland locations heavy wet snow fell.
Before reaching the northeast, the storm brought heavy rain to the Carolinas and the mid-Atlantic coast.
