Retaining Users with New Features
As part of efforts to retain users of the new app, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms, said new features will be added to the Threads app, such as the ability to share posts via Instagram posts.
Threads, which competes with Platform X, formerly known as Twitter, lost more than half of its users in the weeks after its roaring launch, and the app’s subscriber count topped 100 million within five days of its launch in early July.
Re-engaging Users
Product lead Chris Cox said at a July meeting reported by Reuters that Meta is considering adding more ways to re-engage users, such as “making sure important streams (messages) appear when scrolling through the Instagram page.”
Zuckerberg revealed in a Wednesday post that the new updates will also include a button that makes it easier to tag someone’s account in Threads.
The company also hopes to add search capability and make an online version of Threads available in the coming weeks.
