Argentinean Sergio Aguero, Manchester City’s historic goalscorer, has criticized his Spanish coach Josep Guardiola for sidelining striker Julián Alvarez, one of the tango stars at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Pep Guardiola did not make any substitutions during his team’s 1-1 match against Real Madrid, which brought them together last Tuesday evening at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in the Champions League semi-final.
Manchester City have returned from Spanish soil after a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
After the match, Guardiola faced criticism for the fact that some stars, such as Algerian Riyad Mahrez and Englishman Phil Foden, were not involved in an attempt to snatch victory from the royal team.
Sergio Aguero was surprised during an ESPN interview that Guardiola didn’t use Julián Alvarez, saying “What I can’t understand is that Guardiola didn’t use Julián (Alvarez). I’m really interested, but it’s Pep who doesn’t favor anyone.”

Aguero stressed that if he were in the place of the Spanish coach, then in every match he would pay his compatriot Alvarez, given his need to maintain his vitality and performance in the attacking third.
Notably, Julián Alvarez, 23, joined Manchester City’s ranks in the summer of 2022 with a £14m transfer from Argentine side River Plate, scoring 15 goals in his first season, in addition to 5 assists in various competitions.
