For past For months Westminster was buzzing with little else but Boris Johnson and his nine lives. However, now he may have a rival in this particular area: Lindsey Hoyle new cat, Attlee.
cat’s will follow in in steps of other Parliamentarians including Palmerston of the Foreign Office, Gladstone of the Treasury and Larry of Downing Street.
Although the Speaker must renounce his political allegiance, Hoyle named the cat after the Labor Party. prime minister from 1945 to 1951 Clement Attlee. Like many modern pet owners, he set up instagram account for his cat.
hoyle posted in announcement next to the picture of he was sitting in Speaker’s chair holding a four-month-old Maine Coon. Attlee replaces Patrick, fellow Maine Coon, who was named after conservative Patrick McCormack.
Hoyle said: “Introducing Attlee. A brave little kitten who brought a lot of joy to my office as well as team. He brings smiles to faces of everyone he comes in contact with with on parliamentary class. Of course, I will always miss Patrick and I’m sure they both would get along great.”
He left on tell Sky News: “Attley just the wildest, craziest life force you can imagine: he races around my office much to my delight of my team brings a smile face of porters, policemen, cleaners – and all who comes into contact with his.”

MP Chorley is a well-known animal lover who named some of them after politicians. He has a parrot named Boris, a turtle named Maggie and, like Attlee, his dog Gordon was named in honour of a former Labor, work prime minister.
Arguably the most popular resident of Westminster, Larry originally moved to David Cameron’s Downing Street. in 2011 and later was seen entering street fight with pigeon yards away from prime ministers home.
Palmerston announced his “resignation” from the post of head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Myshelov on Twitter in 2020.
