As tensions escalated on the Lebanese-Israeli border for several days, Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant issued stern warnings to the Lebanese Hezbollah militia.
“I am warning Hezbollah and Nasrallah not to make mistakes,” he said in press statements after a trip to the northern borders, including the occupied Lebanese Shebaa farms, where tensions reign after Hezbollah set up a tent there on a Lebanese side, referring to Iranian-backed party leader Hassan Nasrallah.
“They have made mistakes in the past and paid a very high price for it,” he added.

In addition, he stressed that if there was any escalation or conflict on the borders, his forces would return Lebanon to the Stone Age.
And he stressed that his country would not hesitate to use all its might and strike at Hezbollah and every inch of Lebanon if forced to do so.
He explained that he visited the northern border in the morning to closely follow the latest developments, adding that he had met with army leaders. “We have excellent commanders and dedicated fighters,” he said.
He also stressed that the army is able to protect the citizens of Israel in every possible way. He said, “The enemy must understand that when it comes to Israel’s security, we are all one.”
Since the bitter war that broke out between the two sides in July 2006, there has been relative calm on the Lebanese-Israeli border, but in recent days and weeks there has been a moderate increase in the level of tension between the two sides.
This war, unleashed by Hezbollah after it kidnapped two Israeli soldiers at the border, resulted in huge material and human losses in Lebanon, prompting the Hezbollah leader to later admit that “if he had known what a border incident would entail, such a price to the country, he wouldn’t do it.”
Remarkably, these Israeli threats came as Lebanon plunged into one of the world’s worst economic crises in decades, as the local currency lost over 90% of its purchasing value and poverty and unemployment rose.
