Intel warns of an imminent CPU shortage in the near future

According to Intel’s CFO, “acute” supply problems are expected in the third quarter. According to the company, we are entering a period when the supply of processors for consumers will become increasingly scarce, so unfortunately we can expect trouble on the inventory front.

Intel CFO George Davis said that in Q3 (from now on) “Acute” supply problems are expected after CEO Pat Gelsinger recently said that global chip shortages are likely to last another year or two, perhaps until 2023.

Davis said in a conversation according to the seeking Alpha stock market portal: “The industry’s persistent shortage of parts and media is expected to reduce CCG (Client Computing Group) revenue in the future. We expect supply shortfalls to continue for several quarters, but appear to be particularly acute for customers. will be in Q3. For data centers, we expect the corporate, government and cloud markets to recover further in Q3. “

Although inventory shortages today days are hardly new, and it has previously been said that component supply problems will not go away any time soon – despite some rays of hope about GPUs – Intel’s latest admission is certainly disappointing, Techradar notes. Moreover, calling manufacturing problems for the third quarter “acute” and sounding rather serious is ominous for those looking to get Intel chips in the near future.

Meanwhile, Intel is the next-generation Alder Lake CPU. is set to launch in 2021. There are more and more leaks around Alder Lake, and even sample chips are reportedly already being sold in China. From this, it appears that 12th-generation processors, if rumored to be true, could hit the market in October.

Which, of course, is already the fourth quarter, where Intel expects to things are spinning up, but if Alder Lake proves to be as promising as it is suspected, there is likely to be a serious demand for it. If the surge in demand and the shortage of chips are present at the same time, it can push up prices very quickly.
