Meta, which owns the Instagram app, announced on Sunday that the app’s services have returned to most users after resolving a technical issue that caused thousands of users to lose service.
“Earlier today, due to a technical issue, some people were unable to access () Instagram. We were able to resolve the issue as quickly as possible for all those affected (out of service),” a company spokesman told Reuters.
However, the company did not disclose the number of people affected by the service disruption.
But the Down Detector website showed over 100,000 cases in the US, 24,000 in Canada and over 56,000 in the UK.
Over 180,000 users reported problems logging into the app at the height of the outage.
It is noteworthy that Down Detector monitors service failures by collecting reports from several sources, including users.
