Immunization Awareness Week is held in Balochistan – Newspaper

QUETTA: Immunization Awareness Week is held in Balochistan from 24 to 30 April, during which parents will be asked to receive them children vaccinated to protect them from deadly and dangerous diseases.

CEO of Health, Balochistan, Dr. Noor Mohammad Qazi and Deputy Governor of Extended Program on Immunization (EPI) Dr. Amir Raisani said that parents must understand the important of immunization.

They announced this while speaking at a press conference at the Quetta press club. on Sunday. Dr. Tahir Zeri was also present time in press conference.

Dr Qazi said that Immunization Awareness Week is being held in all over in world from 24 to 30 April. Week celebrated in Balochistan in cooperation with the Department of Health, EPI, UNICEF and World Health Organization.

He said that under the EPI program, children under one year of age should be protected from deadly and other dangerous diseases like tuberculosis, polio, jaundice, bronchitis, diphtheria, tetanus, pneumonia, meningitis, diarrhea, measles and rubella. Free vaccinations are provided through fixed points, mobile vaccination centers and mobile teams.

He said that the EPI program aims to achieve out to more than 450,000 children everyone year. Currently 819 government and 31 non-government health centers throughout Balochistan provide immunization funds children.

There are currently 1230 outreach mobile teams all were formed over Balochistan. From of 783 union adviсe in Balochistan, total 579 union tips have EPI fixed sites, while there are still 204 union tips where there is no PII site.

Similarly, 58 percent government hospitals where there is no EPI facility. Even now, more over 1000 vaccinators required in program. There will be need for fashion workforce.
