IHC Accepts ECP and Government Appeals in Case of LG Polls in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday accepted for consideration intra-judicial complaints filed by the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Federal government against resolution of his one-bench on local authorities surveys in federal capital.
AND bench led by IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq rejected the ECP’s petition, demanding a suspension of single bench to hold the LG vote on Dec. 31.
Last week Judge Arbab Muhammad Tahir ordered the ECP to hold elections. on time (December 31) during the hearing of the petition of PTI and JI against elections bodypostponement verdict”for present” due to governments decision increase the number of union councils (UK).
However, the EKP instead of holding elections in LSG filed a petition against order, presenting an apology that there was a shortage of polling station officials and government teachers and other staff on winter holidays.

Talking to media outside Supreme Court, PML-N leader Tariq Fazal Chadri said he would accept everything decision of IHC. He claimed that decision to expand UCs was accepted ensure participation of every citizen in electoral process.
