“I have an older son completing Maritime boot camp and more son José is a student at Texas State University,” Ms. Garcia wrote. on her teacher’s page at school website. “My elder daughter Liliana will be a sophomore in high school, and my youngest Alisandra will be in 7th grade. year”.
She and Mr. Garcia were married for 24 years.
The GoFundMe page was set up for Ms. Garcia family and the cost of her funeral. She is described as “sweet, kind, [and] loving.” Her page went up more over $170,000 since inception.
“She sacrificed herself to protect the children in her class”, GoFundMe page says. “She was a hero. She was loved by many and will truly be missed.”
Eva Mireles, 44, is another teacher. also killed on Tuesday.

“My beautiful cousin! Such a devastating day for us all! My heart is broken into a million pieces,” said Arismendi Mireles.
Miss Mireles was special teacher who worked with both English and Spanish speaking students. She was an educator for 17 years old when she was killed. She mainly taught fourth graders at the school.
On the school’s website, she described herself as mother of college graduate and said she loves running and hiking with her “cheerful and loving” family.
