Hungary's goal remains to be at the forefront of AI development and application in Europe.

According to him, the amount of resources spent on research and development in 2021 reached a new record of 907 billion forints (1.68 percent of GDP), in which government spending amounted to 318 billion forints.

At the heart of the government’s R+D+I strategy is the creation of a knowledge-based and sustainable economy and society capable of creating high value added.

Since 2010, the number of people working in research and development in the EU has increased the most in Hungary, by 97 percent, but our strategic goal is for the country to become one of the top 10 innovators in Europe, and to increase the number of developers to 90,000 , and for this, by the end of decade 3, R&D spending in relation to GDP should be increased to a percentage

Gergely Fabian, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development, summarized the results achieved to date in the field of artificial intelligence and emphasized: Data-EDIH innovation centers have been established, based on cooperation between academia, the public sector and industry; Two acceleration centers have been established in Debrecen and ZalaZone to help start-ups implement AI applications.

Hungary’s most powerful supercomputer was handed over this year in Debrecen (Komondor), and in 2020 the National Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MILAB) was established, which brings together interested research institutes as an umbrella organization in line with the government’s strategy for artificial intelligence adopted in 2020. . Also launched was the Hungarian Startup University Program (HSUP), which supports young innovators.

The AI ​​Coalition, established in 2018 at the initiative of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, announced the AI ​​Challenge, in which 118,000 people have been able to learn the basics of AI online so far. courses. And at the end of 2020, an information campaign was launched to bring artificial intelligence closer to society and prepare it for use.

Jakab Roland, President of the AI ​​Coalition, said that the organization, which started in 2018 with 100 members, is actively involved in the implementation of the AI ​​strategy, which aims to make Hungary a European leader in AI and App development.

As you know, this week in Budapest opened a two-day exhibition organized by the National Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence (MILAB) and the National Autonomous Systems Laboratories (ARNL). Two national laboratories and their industrial partners, as well as invited companies and start-ups, presented their research results at sales and at the exhibition site. The lectures were devoted to the practical application of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems in the fields of industry, production and healthcare.
