Haiti is still recovering after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake that killed about 1,300 people and injured more than 5,700, while rescue teams continue to search for survivors.
The earthquake struck Haiti last Saturday, 12 kilometers from the city of Saint-Louis-de-Sud, which in turn is 160 kilometers from the capital, Port-au-Prince, according to the American Seismological Center. Hundreds of churches, shops, homes and buildings were trapped under the rubble. The residents worked to retrieve the wounded trapped under the rubble, in efforts that were praised by the Civil Defense.

In parallel, the few hospitals in the affected areas are making strenuous efforts to provide first aid, while Prime Minister Ariel Henry visited the most affected areas by helicopter, declaring a state of emergency For a month in the four provinces affected by the disaster.

Witnesses photographed the rubble of several concrete buildings, including a church that appears to have been witnessing a religious celebration on Saturday morning in an area 200 km southwest of Port-au-Prince.
