Global Veterinarians in Pakistan for operation on Elephants at the Karachi Zoo

KARACHI, Pakistan – Veterinarians from global animal care organization are in Pakistan and on Wednesday started series of operations on pair of elephants at the zoo in port city of Karachi.

During a previous visit last yearFour Paws Veterinarians Examined Four Elephants in Karachi and determined that one of animals need “complicated surgery to remove the damaged and infected tusk. And second elephant has teeth problems and medical issue with foot, the vets said at the time.

Tuesday eight people team from the Four Paws has arrived in Pakistan in treat animals. Operations and treatment expected to be completed up on Friday.

Amir Khalil, who leads team of veterinarians, veterinarians and wildlife experts, the other two elephants said. in Karachi – saved in a public a park in in city – will also get medical help. He didn’t elaborate.

Four paws also plans give instructions to the keepers of the Karachi Zoo on providing better care of elephants.

In 2020, an elephant named Kaavan was transported from Islamabad to Cambodia and now lives in elephant sanctuary. Kaavan languished in islamabad zoo for 35 years old, most of that time in chains and he lost his partner in 2012.
