Or if you prefer, you have gone up 1 cent in every 10 liters of gasoline and 3 cents in every 10 liters of diesel. of Fuels for the week of August 16th to 22nd (see here). Our estimate is made after compiling the calculations taking into account the Brent price, the 15-day trend, the averages released by the DGEG and by consulting industry agents.
Mas we made a mistake.
This is because, according to a piece published on the 13th, our forecast indicated an average drop in gasoline 95 of 0.01 euros (1 cent) to 1.670 euros/liter and simple diesel in 0.005 euros (0.5 cents). ) for 1,435 euros/litre. And these values that we publish on Fridays, always refer to the daily average of that week (this is the public data on the DGEG website). And if these prices fluctuate unexpectedly, the error arises.
But then what actually happened on August 16th?
According to information collected today on the DGEG website o Simple diesel rose, on Monday 16th August, to 1.442 euros/liter (weighted average in 2293 service stations in mainland Portugal) and simple gasoline 95 rose, on average, to 1,677 euros (average in 2272 stations).

It is to look confused? We will show the difference between the 15th and the 16th, that is, end of last week and beginning of this week, the date of our forecast.

So let’s see, our forecast was made on Friday the 13th, as we always do, and it was on a downward trend, but… average prices over the weekend continued to fluctuate and…
You already noticed. We were wrong, unfortunately, and
the average prices went up , not only in relation to our forecast, but even, compared to the average price of the previous week.Simply put. Today you pay 0.001 euros more/liter of gasoline and 0.003 euros more/liter of diesel than you paid last Sunday. And these are no longer predictions or trends. It is only the consultation (which is public) of the available data regarding fuel prices.
In other words, if you filled 10 liters, paid 1 or 3 more cents depending on the fuel. It’s a fact…
And for the rest of the week?
With such a small fluctuation between 0.001 and 0.003 euros, it is most likely that you will find several gas stations where this difference it doesn’t even exist. Don’t forget that we are talking about average values.
But, to put it simply: the price of Brent has gone down, on average, 3 US dollars, since the 12th of August. Relief can be expected within a few days. But, whether this relief reaches the consumer or not, we will have to wait. For now, our advice is just to look for the best price, since the different operators are free to place the PVP they want, so you can find cheaper fuels…
