French gaming union sues Ubisoft

The French gaming union Solidaires Informatique has sued several Ubisoft employees and the company itself for its bad work culture.
On July 15, the lawsuit was officially filed by Maude Beckers, who represents both the union and the victims.”In June 2020, dozens of statements surfaced through social networks, supported by articles from various media (Liberation and Numérama in particular), who have denounced cases of sexual harassment within the Ubisoft group, with the pleasure of the Human Resources Department protecting stalkers and silencing victims,” the description reads.

Ubisoft as a company is being sued for ‘institutional sexual harassment’. Also, the charges are against five employees and ex-employees, and a number of ‘nameless individuals’:

Former vice president of editorial and creative services Tommy François, former chief creative officer Serge Hascoët and his assistant, former head of human resources Cécile Cornet and Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot as “chief responsible”.

Ubisoft has has not yet responded to the charges. However, it recently indicated that it feared a loss of talent due to misconduct and that it has a ‘zero tolerance policy’.
