Magdan, May 24 – The Magadan region prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday that a Magadan court decided to confiscate an apartment in Khabarovsk from a former policeman accused of bribery.
Earlier, a former employee of the regional traffic police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was accused of taking large bribes and abuse of power. According to investigators, he received ten monetary bribes in the form of cash and fuel coupons worth more than 1 million rubles for his patronage and conniving service in favor of organizations transporting dangerous and oversized goods.
“It was established that in 2021 the defendant bought an apartment in Khabarovsk worth 7.7 million rubles, while preparing a purchase and sale transaction for his ex-wife in order to avoid publicizing large expenses and possible liability proceedings. Despite the defendant’s arguments regarding provision with immediate relatives of the interest-free loan , the Public Prosecutor’s Office provided comprehensive evidence of their lack of financial ability to do so. The court satisfied the regional public prosecutor’s claim and reserved the apartment,” according to the report.
It was determined that the criminal case against the former policeman was transferred to the Magadan City Court for consideration on the merits.
