Man arrested after hitting a police officer with machete in en attack in forest gate in East London.
The incident happened while the officers were doing the reporting of armed man “suffering from a mental health crisis” in property.
About seven hours after the attack, the Metropolitan Police arrested a 31-year-old year-old man on suspicion of attempt murder of Police officer.
The man held the knife injury around his neck, which is believed to have been self-inflicted,” the Met said, adding that first assistance was provided and the London ambulance service took the man to the hospital.
Officer taken to hospital with en injury to his hand force said. His condition is not considered life-threatening.
The Met said in a statement: “At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 10, the police were called to report of man armed with machete suffering from a mental health crisis at in Skelton Road, E7.
“Officers were present – one officer got a slash injury hand and was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is not life threatening.”
“Incident remains is ongoing,” the statement said. with Independent at 4:00 pm, around four hours after attack – said.
Normally in the circumstances under which the person received injury during a police operation of Professional standards have been informed.
