Ford Proposes $98,000 Earnings for UAW Workers in New Contract Offer

Ford Offers UAW Contract with Increased Wages and Benefits

Ford Motor Co. offers UAW contract with improved compensation

Ford Motor Co. has presented a contract proposal to the UAW, stating that hourly plant workers could earn up to $98,000 in wages, overtime, and bonuses over the next year.

The proposed contract aims to increase benefits and raise workers’ pay by at least 15%, including lump-sum payouts.

Under the contract, workers’ average pay would increase from $78,000 in 2022 to $92,000 in the first year, including overtime and bonuses. Additionally, they would receive $38,000 worth of healthcare and other benefits.

Ford CEO Jim Farley expressed the significance of the deal, emphasizing the company’s commitment to its workers and the ability to respond to changing industry demands.

UAW President Shawn Fain criticized Ford’s offer, stating that it fails to meet their needs and insults their worth.

Fain also mentioned that the UAW has filed unfair labor practices charges against General Motors and Stellantis, alleging that the companies have not adequately responded to the union’s contract demands.

The complaints filed with the National Labor Relations Board claim that the employers have violated the Labor Relations Act by refusing to bargain in good faith over wages and benefits.

General Motors and Stellantis have denied the accusations, stating their commitment to bargaining in good faith and resolving the demands presented by the UAW.

Ford’s proposed wage increase falls short of UAW’s expectations, as they aim to eliminate the grow-in period for new hires and secure additional benefits.

Despite the ongoing negotiations, Fain expressed frustration with the offers from Ford and Stellantis, highlighting the union’s determination to fight for their members.
