Passenger with don’t fly experience successfully landed small airplane in Florida on Tuesday afternoon after his pilot needed a medical emergency.
An incredible aviation achievement took place at Palm Beach International Airport. with in help of air traffic controllers, according to WPBF-TV.
“I have a serious situation here,” a Cessna Caravan passenger was reportedly heard talking air traffic control about 70 miles north of his final destination. “My pilot lost contact. I have no idea how fly on a plane”.
“Roger. What is your position?” the dispatcher replied.
“I have no idea,” the passenger said. “I see the shore of Florida in front of me. And I have no idea.”
“Keep your wings level and just try follow the coast north or in a southerly direction. We’re trying to find you.
Controllers helped the plane descend and finally located it about 25 miles away. north of palm beach in Boca Raton. from there, air the traffic controller caught the man down to the ground in which was considered a safe and stable landing, the station said.
“You just I witnessed how a couple of passengers landed on this plane, ”said the dispatcher. over radio while biting nails saga came to an end.
— You said that the passengers landed the plane? another person asked.
“True,” replied the controller.
“Oh my God. Great job,” another person said.
One aviation expert told the radio station that the controller’s relatively modest praise for virgin pilot was a huge understatement.
“This is first time i ever heard of one of these [Cessna Caravans] being grounded by someone who has no air navigation experience,” said aviation expert John Nance.
