The Iranian Police Media and Liaison Center said in a statement that “five Iranian border guards were killed in a clash that took place last night with rascals and armed criminals in the Saravan region of Sistan and Balochistan. province, south-east of the country”, emphasizing that “this cowardly act will certainly not go unanswered.”
No additional information about the clash and the affiliation of the militants was received.
The Sarawan region is located in the province of Sistan and Balochistan, near the Pakistani-Iranian border, with a length of 909 km.
