Families facing fuel poverty ‘to double’ as energy crisis deepens | News

One in five households already in fuel poverty, and this number can double in October, when the energy price the lid rises again, boss of one of The UK’s largest energy companies have warned.

Michael Lewis, Executive Director of E.On said that high prices for gas and electricity may continue for at least another year and half of “unprecedented” difficulties and the number of households in fuel poverty can double in autumn.

Fuel poverty is defined as spending more than 10 percent of net income on electricity bills to maintain an adequate standard of warmly.
