More space for videos and exclusive content for followers – these are the future plans of the social network Instagram. Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announces these innovations on his Twitter account published video. He names four topics that should be increasingly addressed: “Creators”, “Video”, “Shopping” and “Messaging”. The first two are obviously in focus.
Instagram: Away from the photo app
Instagram wants to keep up with the topic of video, also with a view to Competitor. Mosseri sees video platforms such as Tiktok and Youtube as rivals. Videos should play a decisive role on Instagram in the future – even more than now. The image of an app for sharing images is to be stored. For example, videos could be displayed in full-screen format, including immersive videos and Mosseri mentions “mobile-first” as an example. It is not the first time that Instagram has relied on moving images. With “Reels” last year, a comparable function was integrated into the app, as offered by the competitor Tiktok.
Exclusive content for followers – à la Onlyfans?
The video innovations are not everything: In a current test version, users should be able to classify what they want to see according to topic. In addition, influencers and other content creators should be able to offer exclusive content for their followers – the Onlyfans network offers a similar function. Screenshots of the “Exclusive Stories” appeared on Twitter. According to Techcrunch, Instagram has confirmed that it will develop such a feature. Public tests are apparently not an issue.
As early as June 2021, Instagram announced new opportunities for content creators to use earn money from their publications on the platform. Influencers and other content creators should have the opportunity to discover products in the app, advertise them directly to their followers and earn money with them.
