The M8 motorway was closed in both directions outside Edinburgh after “serious” crash left a vehicle on central reservation.
The road was shut between Claylands Interchange junction 2 and Dechmont Interchange junction 3 next to the city airport after collision on eastern roadway.
The incident happened around 13:15. on Sunday. Emergency services were present and the Scottish Police asked drivers to use alternative routes.
Traffic Scotland says traffic jams are queuing in both directions, following crash with eastbound delays of approximately 45 to 50 minutes and 20 to 30 minutes westbound.
There is also accumulation on interchange 3 off-slip on A899 and on A89.
At 2:25 pm, eastbound M8 traffic remained restricted. with long queues in both directions. The Scottish Highway Police said the motorway down to run on in hard roadside eastbound only due to “serious” road crash.
At 15:00 a representative for in force said, “We’re planning to open a lane one soon. The second lane will remain shut until vehicle restored from the central reservation.
