Elon Musk’s TweetDeck Decision
Introduction
American billionaire Elon Musk continues to amaze users of the X platform (formerly Twitter).
Bad news: TweetDeck is no longer free, as you now have to pay to use it, according to the British Daily Mail.
Widespread Criticism
Users are redirected to a paid registration page when trying to access TweetDeck, which is especially popular with social media managers and journalists.
So far, this change has drawn widespread criticism from users, as one of them said on “X”: “Another Elon Musk decision that literally no one asked for.”
$40 Million Acquisition
Notably, Twitter bought TweetDeck in London in 2011 in a deal valued by the trade media at the time at $40 million.
TweetDeck has since become free to users and has proved extremely popular with approximately 20% of users using it.
Notably, Platform X announced last July that TweetDeck would only be available to “verified” account holders starting that month.
