Elgato's first own webcam is simply called 'Facecam'

Streaming brand Elgato unveiled and launched its first in-house webcam last night. The device records 1080p resolutions at up to 60 frames per second and is simply called Elgato Facecam.
Elgato broke through on Twitch and YouTube years ago with accessible capture cards, later followed by the popular Stream Deck button panels, Key Light lamp array and Wave microphones. Remarkably, the Facecam is Elgato’s first venture to self-image streamers.

The Facecam wants to knock webcam giants like Logitech off the throne with a piece of high-end production technology . Elgato didn’t manufacture the image sensor themselves, but let Sony do it with their ‘Starvis’ CMOS sensor. This enables content producers to adjust light settings and shutter speeds more specifically, just as is possible on (professional) video cameras.

Elgato’s Facecam also offers integrated flash memory. Users can save their favorite settings directly to the camera so that they are not lost on other systems.

The webcam lens is made by Elgato. This concerns a piece of all-glass optics, which Elgato labels as their ‘Prime Lens’. The aperture counts f/2.4, with a focal length of 24mm — comparable to a full-frame DSLR sensor. This would give the Facecam a viewing angle of approximately 82°.

Elgato’s first webcam also comes with its own monitor clamp (with 1/4″ thread), a privacy cover and of course the detachable USB-C cable to connect the camera. Both Windows- as MacOS systems with a USB 3.0 port can directly use the Facecam.

On Elgato’s website the Facecam can be ordered since last night. EUR 199.99
