Elahi sues brawl in Punjab Assembly

PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervez Elahi took over. of brawl in the provincial legislature in the district court in contradicts his earlier position that “the courts cannot intervene in meetings business” in legal battle with Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari.

Elahi on On Monday, he applied to the district court with a request for registration of first information report (FIR) against recently-elected Chief Minister of Punjab Hamza Shehbaz, his fifteen MPAs and other officials in bureaucracy for allegedly attacked him and his party MPA on April 16 during a clash between the opposition and Treasury deputies.

It is pertinent to mention that when Deputy Speaker Mazari went to court challenging the Speaker of Elahi’s notice under which his powers were revoked, Elahi counsel seemed to rely on different quotes with argument that “the assembly business cannot be sued, and the courts cannot intervene to the assembly business”.

Surprisingly, Elahi’s speaker told the court that the Killa Gujar Singh police did not register the FIR. against the aforementioned accused who allegedly beaten by their male and female MRAs.

He claimed in his petition that during the elections of in CM on April 16, about 200-300 armed police, including officials. in private the uniform entered the premises of the Punjab Assembly on direction of PML-N candidate Hamza Shehbaz, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab and Chief Secretary.

According to pleaMPA PML-N Rana Mashhud Khan, Jahangir Khanzada and others with active connivance with Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Afzal, Deputy Commissioner Umar Sher Chatta and others attacked petitioner and his MPA, leaving them wounded. Them women MPA also sustained injuries, he claims.

petitioner the victim approached the Kila Gujar Singh police station for FIR registration against the above, but the police did not bother to consider his statement, read plea.

He pleaded that the police officers be required to register the case. on a complaint of in petitioner according to article 154 of The code of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and sue.

He asked the court to instruct the defendant SHO to register the FIR. against the aforementioned persons.
