Egyptian President: We will not lift the subsidy, but we will reorganize it

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed that the subsidy will not be canceled but will be reorganized, explaining in a speech during the opening of a number of projects in Badr City, today, Saturday, that awareness is the most serious issue facing societies. The Egyptian President pointed to the need to rearrange and distribute the items of support provided to the citizen, in light of the state’s orientation to development and progress, explaining that the annual support reaches more than 275 billion pounds, meaning that within 10 years the support reaches about 3 trillion pounds.

He continued: “I am addressing issues that no one has addressed, and I take the difficult and not the easy path, and the government is working with the aim of developing the state,” stressing that any official in the state is required to make the greatest effort to change the current situation.

He also indicated that the development of the Egyptian countryside will cost the state from 700 to 800 billion pounds in 3 years.

Madbouly explained that the total estimated cost of the projects implemented to develop slums during the period “2015-2021” amounts to 425 billion pounds.

A few days ago, the president demanded Al-Masry stressed the need to restructure bread subsidies in Egypt, within the framework of the plan to reform the subsidy system and restructure the sectors that increase the burdens on the state’s general budget.
