EasyJet Cancels 1,700 Flights Due to Air Traffic Control Disruptions
Flight Cancellations
British airline EasyJet has announced it will cancel around 1,700 flights during the peak summer tourist season due to air traffic control disruptions in Europe.
The company said in a statement that most of the canceled flights were flights to and from Gatwick Airport in London.
Adverse Impact on Gatwick Airport
“We have made some adjustments to our program by consolidating a small number of flights at Gatwick Airport,” the company added, according to Agence France-Presse.
Challenging Conditions
EasyJet said the industry has faced challenging conditions this summer due to further airspace restrictions due to the war in Ukraine, causing unprecedented delays in air traffic control.
The company explained the cancellation of some flights as a strike of some air traffic controllers.
