Thunderstorms and floods can hit parts of London and the South East today, forecasters warn.
Power outages are likely and some communities may be offline off if the road is broken weather.
The meteorological office issued amber warning for thunderstorms for 11 am on Wednesday, will last until 22:00.
It covers a lot of London, as well as West Sussex, East Sussex, Kent and Essex.
The weather bureau warned public:
- flood of homes and business is likely and can happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floods, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
- A flash or deep flood is likely causing danger to life
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, delays and some train and bus cancellations are possible
- Splashes and sudden flooding can lead to difficult road conditions and some road closures
- Some communities are likely to be downsized off if the roads flood
- Power outages likely occur and other services for some homes and business can be lost
It comes like roads in parts of the southwest of England was flooded on Tuesday on in second day of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
One of the reasons for worries that heavy rains follow weeks of drought conditions – when the ground is too dry, it cannot absorb rain fast enough, so the water runs over earth and flood it.
The Met Office said Monday was the eighth day in a row. with temperature reaches 30C (86F).
