Conservative former advocate general calls on Boris Johnson resigns

Former Attorney general Jeremy Wright became latest Conservative MP call on Boris Johnson resigns.

Former cabinet ministers call came as a reserve deputy first elected in 2019 showed he sent a letter of no-confidence in in prime minister.

Carshalton and Wallington MP Elliot Colburn told the voter that he sent a letter “some time ago” to the chairman of the 1922 committee, Sir Graham Brady, and saw nothing. in Sue Gray’s report to convince him to withdraw it. At least 20 deputies have so far handed over in letters, and Sir Graham must call competition for leadership if the figure reaches 54.

In a statement on his website Mr. Wright said that if Mr. Johnson remains in 10 Downing Street, he will interfere with the process of “restoration of faith in good government”.

And said, “I have with regretfully came to the conclusion that for in good of this and future government, prime minister should to resign.”

Mr Wright latest of at least 25 Conservative MPs call on Mr Johnson step down, with several approaching forward in commemoration of last Sue Gray’s weekly report on the Partygate scandal, which found “failures of leadership” under number 10.

MP for Kenilworth and Southam said he was not considering extradition of £50 fixed penalty PM notification over birthday party at number 10 as evidence that he misled the Chamber of Commons when he announced the Covid lockdown rules followed in Downing Street.

But he added: “In my view there is clear proof of his negligence.

“I believe that he could should made more make sure that he was given an assurance and that he in turn to give parliamentwe indeed right.”

And he said the “usual disregard” at 10 Downing Street for COVID-19 rules “betrayed in best careless and at worst contemptuous treatment of victims made and feel the pain for many who strictly observed the spirit and the letter of those rules”.

Terrible, he added: “I find it impossible to admit that prime minister not personally responsible for this tone.

Mr Wright – who served as attorney general in Administration and culture of David Cameron secretary under Theresa May, but was fired by Mr. Johnson when he took office in 2019 – said that events discovered by Mrs. Grey, “did real and long-term damage reputation No just of this is government but to institutions and authorities of government more all in all”.

Evidence that people in downing street failed to follow in rules they imposed on other British made “less likely” public will again obey the instructions issued government in a future emergency, he warned.

“Many will say that if senior government officials do not adhere to the rules Why should Me?” he said.

“Correct installation is of great importance for the essence of government authority and efficiency of government policy and I don’t see that moving on of public servants or apologies, no matter how sincere they may be, in doing so.

“Accountability and the Restoration of Faith in good government demand something more as a defense future public agreement with government instructions when needed, and allow the present government pass the important legislation it introduced, including the vital changes to social care financing, energy security and online regulation.

“Now it seems to me that prime remaining in office will hinder the achievement of these critical goals. Therefore I have with sorry, came to the conclusion that for in good of this and future government, prime minister should to resign.”
