LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday ordered closure of government as well as private schools three times a week amid growing threat of smog in Punjab, especially in Lahore, according to ARY News.
Instructions were given by the BAC during the hearing of the petitions moved for Finding a cure for smog issue.
Court in his verdict was that the Punjab government absolutely failed in Fight against smog issue and led the provincial government contact the center for help in threat control.
provincial government was asked for legislation to pass down pollution-free industries. Project for legislation in this context should be sent to court as soon as possible.
In addition, Punjab government proposed to arrest vehicles creating pollution in in environment.
Transport found creating pollution should be confiscated and auctioned after one notice, LHC said in his directions to the province government.

As winter begins the area of northern Punjab falls under the thick layer of fog affecting daily life and vehicle traffic. Highways are closed and flights are delayed or canceled due to poor visibility.
