CJP pays tribute to slain Afridi as legal fraternity goes on strike against killing today

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial named killing of veteran lawyer, politician and former the president of SCBA Abdul Latif Afridi big loss.

Punjab Bar Council and Lahore High Court Bar also decided not to show up in courts to register their protest against in killing.

Lawyers demanded from the authorities give exemplary punishment for a murderer.

Mr. Afridi remained at the forefront of in struggle for the rights of in community and played key role in lawyer movement in 2007. He had also remained vice chairman and member of Pakistan Bar Council.

He was killed during firing at Peshawar High Court (PHC) bar on Monday from a colleague who Shot him down six times dressed up in full court robes, according to police and a witness.

Mr. Afridi was messing around with colleagues in common room in Peshawar High Court when he was assassinated in obvious resentment attack.
