High-ranking Loyalist Winston “Winky” Irvine is born. in court on Saturday charged with firearm crimes.
he 46-year-old was arrested earlier this week as part of of wider investigation into false bomb warning in March.
Irwin was arrested on Shankill Road in Belfast on Wednesday morning. Two suspected firearms were seized.
His arrest counts in connection with false bomb warning on March 25, as a result in Irish foreign minister Simon Coveney forced to flee from the world building event.
During the incident, militants stole a van from a worker in sydney street in Shankill and told him that he would be shot or his family would have been injured if he had not followed orders.
An item was later revealed to be a fake bomb, then planted in the man’s van and the victim were ordered drive it’s in the center of Huben on Crumlin Road.
Mr. Coveney attended a peace event hosted by the John and Pat Hume Foundation.
A PSNI spokesman said: “Detectives from the Terrorism Investigation Unit filed an indictment of 46-year-old man with number of crimes.
“He’s been charged with possession of firearms and ammunition in suspicious circumstances, possession of prohibited firearms, possession of gun without a certificate and possession of cartridges without a certificate.
“He is due to appear in Laganside Magistrates Court today, Saturday, June 11th.
“As usual, all allegations will be reviewed by PPS.”
