British travelers were left struggling to board flights after NHS Covid Pass system walked down for several hours on Thursday evening.
Users trying access proof of their vaccination status via NHS app and website found that the service is unavailable, with app tells users “We’re sorry the NHS Covid Pass currently not available.
“Currently there is no alternative route for access to this information via NHS app or online. if you have already downloaded information then your access should not be affected.”
Around 10pm NHS Digital tweeted: “Covid-19 pass is now operating normally and we will continue monitoring throughout the night. Thanks for Your patience and apologies for any inconvenience caused”.
Vacationers on social media they said they couldn’t check in at airports because they couldn’t prove their vaccination status.
One user wrote on Twitter: “Unacceptable to leave people without a detour – we fly out to Spain in early hours for our first family holiday for five years and have no evidence of graft!!
“Please provide urgent update for for those who are traveling now, it should be minimal.”
Another user tweeted: “Instead of repeating what everyone else is saying. Instead of of fixing an application that takes hours … Can Covid pass proof will be emailed to everyone with NHS login? Or any other temporary fix to people Do you miss traveling and vacations?
Another user wrote: “Please hurry – we are trying to check in but need Covid pass to complete this is.”
Requirement for people to show UK National Health Service pass visit indoor and outdoor events and places like movie theaters and nightclubs were scrapped government in February.
However, it is still used as way for people to show their vaccination status when traveling abroad on certain countries.
