The BRICS economic coalition, composed of emerging markets, has announced its decision to invite six nations to become members. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa made this announcement on Thursday.

The BRICS alliance currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. However, the coalition plans to expand its membership by inviting Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, as stated by Ramaphosa in a speech posted on the X social media platform (previously known as Twitter).

The 15th BRICS summit is currently being hosted by South Africa.
