Mr Johnson actually admitted that the comments have since proven to be incorrect, but claimed he thought they were true at the time, based on on staff briefings.

Another, when asked if Johnson misled Parliament, said, “Absolutely, it’s damn good that he did.”
The third one said of prime minister’s knowledge of isolation-busting parties that “he knew what he was getting into on”.
The comments are important because if the Privileges Committee decides that Mr Johnson has misled Parliament, he may face position of the review, which trigger by-election in his place of Uxbridge and South Ruislip – could potentially force him out of Parliament.
