MotoE will have support car based on the new electric grand coupé
BMW presented the i4 M50 Safety Car that will be part of the MotoE World Cup this month. This will be the first electric Safety Car with the BMW M seal and will replace the BMW i8 as a support vehicle in the FIM electric motorcycle championship races.
The debut will be at the GP from Austria, which will take place on the 15th of this month at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
The new MotoE Safety Car is based on the BMW i4 M50 which will be launched in November this year – the arrival in Portugal should happen a few months later . With an electric motor per axle, the first electric car branded in the M department of BMW will offer a combined power of 544 hp.
The i4 M50 is equipped with a chassis with specific M technology to improve driving dynamics and also brings with it a rolling sound characteristic of the new electric BMW M that will start to arrive.
The brand’s CEO, Markus Flasch, stresses that BM is entering a “ new era” with the i4 M50 by “laying the path to a future” in which the theme will be “combination of sports and performance vehicles with electrification”.
