Via the Matter cross-platform smart home communication standard, Nanoleaf has begun accepting preorders for its Matter-enabled Essential lights. These lights are designed to operate with HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and other home automation platforms.
The Essential Lightstrip, compatible with Matter, and the Essential bulbs, including the A19 and BR30, are also available for purchase. Because The Matter is a new smart home standard still being rolled out, these lighting items are some of the first ones to offer native support for The Matter.
Matter functions the same for HomeKit users as other HomeKit devices do. Still, it establishes connections through Matter rather than HomeKit. For someone whose entire system is built around HomeKit, this signifies little. Despite this, the Matter lights can be managed from any device, making them an ideal choice for households with numerous smart home platforms or smartphone manufacturers. Users of iPhones and Androids can control a Matter-enabled Nanoleaf light from their respective devices, assuming that the appropriate hub arrangement is in place.
The new Nanoleaf Basic lights support Matter over Thread, resulting in an enhanced connectivity experience when used with other Thread devices. The light bulbs and light strips offered by Nanoleaf can be customized to any one of 16 million different hues, or they can be used to produce a variety of tints of white light.
Any smart home app, such as the Home or Nanoleaf app, can control Essentials lights with Matter support integrated into them. The Nanoleaf app provides a variety of helpful scene sets, such as those for working, relaxing in the evening, and more. It offers the possibility of having the color temperature of the light change at different times throughout the day.
Matter-enabled The Nanoleaf website accepts orders for the company’s lights, which can be purchased for a price ranging from $20 to $50. Now, preorders can be placed for the A19 bulb and the Lightstrip; the BR30, on the other hand, will be available in April. In the latter part of this year, Nanoleaf will provide a GU10 light and a Recessed Downlight.
In addition, Nanoleaf is working on an over-the-air upgrade that will add Matter to the lineup of light panels and bars it already offers.
