Arizona cops stand by as man drowns, begging for help: TV camera

Man drowned in death in lake in Arizona, when the police stood nearby and allegedly ignored his requests for helpaccording to camera transcript of interaction.

Police responded to reports of a riot between the couple near the Elmore footbridge. in Tempe on May 28 when one of in people jumped into the lake, according to local News 12 station.

“I’m drowning,” he said.

“come back over to the pylon.” one the officer replied.

“I cant. I can’t, said Beekings.

“Okay, I don’t jump in after you,” another officer said.

“Please help to me. Please, please, please,” Beekings begged. “I can’t touch. Oh God please help to me. Help me.”

“I just distraught because he’s sinking straight in front of you and you wont help,” she said.

One of officers threaten to put her in jail in his police car if she hadn’t calmed down, according to the transcript.

The woman replies that she tried to calm down but became emotional because she loved Beakings and cared deeply for him.

Least one the officer tried to get a boat to rescue Beekings, but it was too late.

Beakings went under the surface of the water and drowned.
