ISLAMABAD:
Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) unanimously endorsed the candidacy of Chief Judge Puisne Judge Aamer Farooq as new main justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Nine months later of impasse, judicial commission of Pakistan last week approved the increase of three high court judges including IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah to the Supreme Court.
After the rise of Judge Minallah to the high court, two seats in The Supreme Court was empty.

During its meeting held on October 24, JCP majority of 5-4 did not approve the candidacy of Judge Shafi Siddiqui, who sixth on seniority list of Judges of the High Court of Sindh (SHC).

The meeting continued for almost three hours during which heated exchanges took place between two senior judges, it’s been studied.
It was also learned that the JCP unanimously approved the increase of IHC Chief Judge Minallah, and exaltation of Judge Shahid Wahid and Judge Hasan Azhar Rizvi of Lahore High Court (LHC) approved by majority vote of 5-4 votes.
SHC Justice Siddiqui’s candidacy was delayed by the JCP with a score of 5–4. votes after one member, Judge (retired) Sarmad Jalal Osmani disagreed, stating that SHC Judge Akil Abbasi was the best option.
Three members of the judiciary, Judge Qazi Faez Isa, Judge Sardar Tariq Masood and Judge Syed Mansour Ali Shah opposed the nomination. of three judges of the junior high courts, as they upheld the principle of precedence.
