The increase in fuel prices puts them at levels above 2008, when there was a peak in the price of oil and refined products
In recent weeks there has been strong pressure on fuel prices with the bill proving to be increasingly heavy for the consumer.
Why are we paying so much?
Gasoline has gone up again this week
In response to much of the speculation that exists about this issue, Apetro issued a note with comparative data for the peak year of oil prices in 2008 with prices at the end date of June.
The truth is that the current price of oil and refined products in the international markets are today still very low that of this year where peak values were reached.
In other words, the price of gasoline 95 is 0.114 euros lower and diesel lower by 0.265 euros compared to 2008.
Then why should Are fuel prices at the pumps way above the values that could be found in 2008?
Apetro was comparing and showing through two simple graphs where, in fact, is the reason for the prices that are practiced today.
Looking at the reference week under analysis by Apetro (week of 07.07.2008, peak date and week of 06.28.2021, which still does not include the increase that was already felt in July), the conclusion is factually presented.

In other words, in a simpler way.
We are paying more for fuel due to the share of taxes.
APETRO only notes that the values were not corrected in terms of inflation and are expressed in euros, so the exchange rate is associated with the referred period.
